Content types

Every project has a content type — the kind of writing you are doing. It is the choice that shapes everything else: the setup interview, the document types you can add, the stages each document moves through, and which coaches are recommended. You pick it when you create a project.

What a content type brings

• A document-type roster — the kinds of document you can add — chapters, scenes, statblocks, episodes, and so on.
• A stage machine — the path each document follows, from Ideation to Final edit, plus any stages the type adds.
• A recommended coach set — the coaches turned on by default for this kind of writing; the rest stay available.

The fourteen content types

• Blog — A blog where every post shares one voice, structure, and category set.
• Short Fiction — A self-contained story, with planning documents for scenes and characters.
• Nonfiction Book — Essays, reports, and book-length nonfiction, with chapters and supporting notes.
• Tabletop RPG — Adventures, settings, and campaign material — Adventures add an encounter-balance stage.
• Screenplay — Scripts and scene work, with beat-sheet and table-read stages and a script layout.
• Novel — Book-length fiction organised into chapters, scenes, characters, and worldbuilding.
• Memoir — Real-events nonfiction in chapters, vignettes, and a timeline.
• Newsletter — Dated issues and standing pages for a recurring newsletter.
• Poetry — Individual poems and the sections or movements that group them.
• Academic Writing — Thesis-driven essays with literature reviews and appendices.
• Stage Play — Scripts for the stage, with beat-sheet, table-read, and staging-notes stages.
• Interactive Fiction — Branching stories built from passages and state nodes.
• Blank Project — A project with no content type and no setup interview — just start writing.
• Journal — Private daily writing. Not shared, not published, not read by the Weave.
